Birkenstock walking shoes are made of high quality materials. They provide comfort and support. The shoes can have one of the following footbeds:
1. Original footbed for people with an average arch.
2. Soft footbed for feet with low arches and sensitive feet. It has a cork construction with an extra layer of soft foam.
3. High arch footbed provides increased support and stability.

The Taupe Suede Alabama features the original footbed. The upper is soft sued leather. It has a deep heel cup and a roomy toe box, which is covered with a suede liner. The shoe molds and shapes to your foot. Regular price is about $200, but the sales price can be about $130.

The Dark Brown Leather Devon costs about $210. It features a removable footbed and lightweight soles. The upper material is leather.

The Hunter Brown Leather London is a completely enclosed leather shoe with an adjustable strap. It features arch support, a deep heel cup and a roomy toe box. The outsole is made of flexible, durable material. Regular price is about $150.



Birkenstock was started in 1774 in a small German village to make footwear. Over the next several years several changes were made. In 1897 the first shoe with a contoured insole was made. In 1902 it introduced the first flexible arch support to be inserted in the factory made shoes. In 1966 Birkenstock USA was started.
