Get a low impact Elliptical
Exercise on an Elliptical Trainer

Elliptical trainers are the latest exercise machines to come on the market. Elliptical exercise is easy and can be done by anybody. Ellipticals provide a safe and a low impact workout.

Trainers designed for home use cost about $600-1000. They provide a total body workout. Many different exercises can be performed.

There are two functions that can be set on all models: resistance and speed. Some models offer several resistance levels for different workouts.

Some machines have adjustable handles that can give an upper body workout. Different settings make the exercise more effective and less boring.

Most machines have built in workout programs. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Before you start with an exercise program, get your doctor's permission.
  • Start your exercise with a 5 minute warm up period and finish with a 5 minute cool down period.
  • Total workout time should be about 30 minutes.
  • Workout at least 3 times a week, but not more than 5 times a week to give your body some rest.
