This Treadmill Review
should help determine your Need

There are many brands of treadmills available in a wide price range. This treadmill review will help you determine what you need.

Factors to consider:

How much can you spend?
If your budget is limited, don't look for treadmills over $2000-3000. Determine the maximum amount you can afford to spend.

How much space do you have available?
If you have little room, you might want to consider a folding model.

What is your goal?
1. Will you walk for physical fitness or to lose weight?
2. If you are a serious athlete or expect heavy usage, you need a sturdier machine.

Who will be using the treadmill?
1. Are you the only one to use the treadmill?
2. If more than 2 people will be exercising, you probably need a model in the $1500-3000 range.

What are the weights of the people who will be using the machine?
If one person weighs over 250 lbs, you will need to look for a sturdy machine.

Features to consider:

  • The motor should be at least 1.5 HP. For heavy use or a heavier person, a 2.0 HP or 2.5 HP motor would be better.
  • The average walking belt is 18" x 52" and 2 ply. Some runners might need a 19" x 55" belt.
  • The deck should be at least 1/4" thick.
  • The display should be easy to read for speed, distance traveled, incline and time elapsed.
  • A heart rate monitor is helpful.
  • The operation should be quiet. A noisy treadmill might indicate poor components.
  • For a good model, a standard warranty is lifetime on the frame, 3 years for parts and 1 year for labor.
