Quality
Smooth Fitness Equipment

Smooth fitness equipment includes the popular ellipticals, treadmills and stationary bikes. By selling factory direct, overhead costs of retail sales are eliminated.

The company was established in 1984. It was the first retailer to begin selling online in 1996. The Smooth brand is recognized for quality ellipticals and treadmills.

Treadmills have been the largest selling cardiovascular fitness product for about 20 years.

When looking for a treadmill, you need to consider:
1. Price
Generally, you get a good machine for about $1000. The motor should be 2.5 HP. The belt should be 20" wide and 52" - 55" long. If you are taller than 6 feet and weigh weigh more than 225 lbs, consider a better quality machine. Price for a better quality machine is about $1500-2000.

2. Motor
Most top brands use qood motors that last a long time. The warranty should be at least 10 years.

3. Deck
A good deck should be 3/4" - 1" thick and made of solid wood.

4. Folding or non folding treadmill
Most folding machines are only suitable for walking. It is better to use a non folding treadmill, if you plan to do mostly running.

Smooth Fitness sells only rear drive ellipticals, because they provide the most effective workouts. An important feature of an elliptical is the stride length. If you are taller than 6 feet, a 21" stride would be better.

Smooth elliptical trainers use a flywheel instead of rollers on a ramp for the leg movements. This does not allow the user to adjust the machine. The machine's speed and resistance are based on the workout program.
