Reduce Calorie Intake
with the Subway Diet Plan

The Subway diet plan has been in the news the last few years, mainly due to the college student, Jared Fogle. He had lived next to a subway store when his weight was over 400 lbs. He noticed that Subway carried a large selection of low calorie sandwiches and decided to eat just these low calorie sandwiches.

He went on to lose 100 lbs and then also started to walk for exercise, which let to more weight loss. He brought his weight down to 190 lbs.

This is a great accomplishment, but it does not mean this is a healthy diet or that the results can be achieved by others. His weight loss was accomplished by taking in less calories than he burned off and not by a balanced diet.

Subway offers a wide selection of low calorie subs, which are good for an occasional lunch, but the sandwiches need to be supplemented by other foods like fruits and vegetables.

The Subway diet is effective, because of it's low intake of calories, but in the long run a more balanced diet is more effective.

Subway nutrition consists basically of a variety of Subway sandwiches. A good selection of fresh submarine sandwiches with less than 6 grams of fat are available. You can choose ham, turkey breast, roast beef, chicken breast and tuna sandwiches.

You can also enjoy a Subway Club sandwich that includes lean and tender, sliced turkey breast, sliced roast beef or sliced ham with a choice of fresh vegetables.

You can also get a Veggie Delite that has a combination of vegetables. Fresh lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, olives and pickles are stacked on freshly baked bread.

The Classic Tuna sandwich has tuna prepared with mayo on fresh bread. It includes vegetables or cheese on top of the tuna. This sandwich has a fat content of about 68 grams.

Subway was started in 1965 by two young men. After a rough business start, Subway decided to expand with franchising restaurants. Subway is now the world's largest submarine sandwich chain. It has more than 26000 restaurants in 85 countries.
